We worked along side Nugget Design on Bulgaria Mall. From the outset of the project they were aware of the restricted budget and the tight deadlines. This did not put Ari and his team off…they delivered the project on time, under budget and without compromising the concept that the client had bought into.

Bulgaria Mall | Sofia
With particular emphasis on the food court; the client wanted to create a “dining out experience” without alienating local customers. This was achieved by a combination of off-the-shelf and bespoke pieces, adorned with designer feature lighting from the likes of Tom Dixon and Foscarini all within the confines of a traditional open planned layout. In the general mall areas, benches, soft seating and rugs were designed to complement the mall’s curvaceous nature.
The general mall was designed to have both “stop and stay” and “stop and go” zones. Bespoke benches were designed specifically for Bulgaria Mall to suit all forms of the curvaceous and organic balustrades running the perimeter of the mall, surrounded by lush green planting for privacy with large, comfortable and soft seating for the longer resting areas in bright bold colours which add an element of quirkiness and fun. The bespoke branded rugs on the ground floor allow for the mall logo to be visible from all levels.
The foodcourt: Our role was to create a dining experience for those who might not be able to afford to go to restaurants with their families but can still afford a food court style meal. We were tasked with making an aspirational space that was still welcoming for the audience.
We used quality off-the-shelf furniture as well as bespoke built pieces. We used interesting finishes such as Corian, back painted glass and leather clad columns, which helped to create that restaurant ambiance that the client requested. Suspended feature lighting from British designer Tom Dixon and Italian Foscarini lamps were the added glamour to this high-end, one of a kind food court.
The Challenge: Being called into the project with under 4 months of the proposed opening date, we had to work extremely fast. Concept designs for the wayfinding, interiors and food court required immediate sign off and all development, tender and drawings to be completed with enough time left for manufacture and installation. This was a major challenge. But working closely with all the other contractors enabled us to deliver the project on time and under budget.
