Rebranding Go Travel: More Than Just Travel

Go Travel appointed Nugget Design to take their travel agency to the next level of growth. Although Go Travel has been a successful independent business for almost 20 years, they felt the stores had become tired. The interiors and brand were in need of review.

Go Travel’s owners- Andy, Dave and Mike Roberts – also couldn’t ignore the challenges faced by the increase of online travel options and alternatives to high street travel agencies. They knew they needed more than just refreshed interior decoration. Nugget Design were able to offer a design vision and process looking at their business, and interior and brand strategy, to create a completely new refurbishment.

We helped them re-position the brand to showcase their strengths as a specialist on the high street. The design concept focused on opening doors to new potential customers while not alienating existing ones. Also to highlight the range of services Go Travel can provide, which customers new and existing may not have been aware they offer.

A branded retail experience

We felt Go Travel’s strapline ““More than just travel” was an effective one. It helps customers understand they are more than just a place to book flights. However this was not actively reflected in their interiors.

To change this we broke their traditional sales desk/call centre format and instead created a comfortable space. One people could engage with, and be inspired by, without feeling they have to sit immediately on arrival at a sales desk.

We divided the interior into several distinct zones. These included consultation desks, engaging active waiting areas, a discovery room and currency bureau. Alongside this we created and delivered a bespoke digital in-store media and shop window digital marketing strategy.

Customers no longer will just come to Go Travel for a ticket, but as a retail destination for advice, inspiration and to discover what is new and exciting for their next adventure.

With the first branch Chislehurst up and running, both our clients and we are extremely proud of this project. Refurbishment is already underway in Petts Wood and we look forward to the Locksbottom and Blackheath branches next year.

Why we said no to a flyer for Signature Dental

Signature Dental approached us ten days before the annual community Halloween Pumpkin Hunt event, looking for a promotional flyer design.
After speaking for some time with Magda, the owner and head dentist, we realised it wasn’t a flyer she required, but something far more engaging. Something that would grab the attention of her audience: the children attending the event, but also the adults they were targeting.

The only reason they wanted a flyer was because that is what they thought they needed.

From our experience with events like the Chislehurst Pumpkin Hunt, the children will get loads of sweets – always popular. However they will come in bags full of flyers and promotional printed documents, none of which have an emotional connection to the children. So they will most likely discard them, and parents may not even see them. This could be considered a lost opportunity.

Our aim was to create something simple, small and effective that would capture the attention of the children. Something they would want to play with and keep, but also that would get the attention of their parents.

Know your audience

And so we came up with the Signature Dental pumpkin smile wheel.
On one side it presented jokes and funny halloween pumpkin faces. On the other side it showed several smiles which represented the services Signature Dental wished to promote. From repair and cracked teeth, to whitening and straightening with braces.
The result was great; kids wanted to play and keep the pumpkins and the parents’ curiosity and interest helped promote Signature Dental’s new services.

So this is a good example of where you need more than just a printed flyer, and need to understand the event, audience and what will get attention.

Forbo’s 3Doodler Create competition winners

The Nugget Design team were super excited when we had a call from Paul Sceats, Business Area Manager at Forbo Flooring to inform us we had won a new 3Doodler Create in their recent competition.

The new 3Doodler Create pen, is described as: “the latest generation of the world’s first and best-selling 3D printing pen. Compact & easy to use, the 3Doodler Create extrudes heated plastic that cools almost instantly into a solid, stable structure”. www.the3doodler.com

Something we were very keen to try out.

As a thank you to Forbo it made sense to try and create their logo out of this unique plastic.

The aim was to create a complete 3D logotype. However, after our initial play we felt that the simple logotype was the most effective and cast some great shadows too!
